15 New Gerbils at Barnside

6/26/2016

Oh Boy! (and boy and boy and girl and girl...)  We have 8 new boy and 7 new girl gerbils providing hours of entertainment in the 120 gallon tanks in Barnside Veterinary Hospital's Reception area.  Clients, kids and pets love to watch their crazy antics!

But what happened to the "old" gerbils?  Did you know hamsters and gerbils only live about 3 years?  From our previous clans, there was one lone geriatric from each tank.  They are now "mascots" for our Treatment Area and provide entertainment for our staff.  We like to watch them play too!

These gerbils are Barnside Veterinary Hospital's pets.  But we also treat clients' "pocket pets" too.  At Barnside we see gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, mice, rats and ferrets.  Depending on the species and problem, we also treat reptiles (turtles, lizards and snakes) and birds (mostly beak, nail and wing trims.)  It always adds excitement to the day when clients bring us their small farm animals.  We provide veterinary care for sheep, goats, pot-bellied pigs and even chickens!
