The Veterinarians

MEREDITH L. WELTNER-SHARIN VMD
Dr. Sharin graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with an undergraduate degree in Biology in 1993 and then also graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. After graduation she completed a year-long surgical-medical internship in Delaware. Dr. Sharin practiced in southern NJ for almost a decade before opening Barnside Veterinary Hospital in 2008. It has always been her desire to create and run a practice that delivered the highest caliber of patient care and owner education. Dr. Sharin lives in Belmar with her husband Michael. Together they enjoy sailing, skiing and spending time with their children, Jenna and Michael, and their pets. |
The Technicians

SANDY D.
Sandy has been at Barnside Veterinary Hospital since we opened! With 25 years experience working as a Technician in veterinary hospitals, we're excited that Sandy has taken on a Management position at Barnside. Don't worry, Sandy will always be available to give your baby and extra kiss or cookie! Sandy has an Associate's degree from Brookdale and a Bachelor's degree from Georgian Court. Sandy's current menagerie includes a coonhound, Honeybugs; 3 cats, Hermie, Nermal and Laramie and gerbil Blueberry. She enjoys playing softball, rooting for the Mets and Jets and spending time with family and friends. |
The Technician Assistants

MICHELE M.
Michele has been at Barnside since August 2016. She has a Bachelor's of Science in Biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. As a substitute teacher and a lifeguard, Michele worked extensively with two-legged children before switching to 4-legged ones. A former Women's Division I bowler, Michele enjoys wake-boarding, and walking her dogs: Mac, Coffee and Duke. When not engaging in sports, she enjoys spending time with her family. Michele recently took position in biomedical research, but still works at Barnside on a part-time basis. |

ROBYN L.
Robyn started at Barnside in January 2018. She received her Associate's degree in Science from Ocean County College. Robyn earned a certificate from the Stratford Career Institution for Veterinary Assistant and is currently taking online classes through Penn Foster toward her Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology. Robyn also works as a caregiver at The Open Door, a facility for persons with developmental and mental health challenges. As if that's not enough, Robyn recently became a new mom!! When she's not working, studying, and taking care of her daughter, Robyn enjoys spending time with her poodles: Nala and Dasiey. |

KELLY R.
Kelly has been at Barnside during and in-between school programs for the past 5 years. A veterinary student at St. George's in the West Indies, Kelly is finishing her final clinical year at University of Florida Veterinary School. Kelly will be graduating May 2022! Congratulations! Because the COVID pandemic caused her veterinary school to switch to remote learning, she augmented her online education with hands-on experience at Barnside, while also working as a technician. She is a graduate from Virginia Tech where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences and minored in Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship. In her free time, Kelly enjoys running by the beach, taking hikes with her dog and relaxing but the pool with her family. |

RYAN S.
Ryan has been at Barnside during and in-between school programs for the past 5 years. A veterinary student at St. George's in the West Indies, Ryan is in his clinical year at University of Georgia Veterinary School. Ryan will be graduating December 2022! Congratulations! He is a graduate from James Madison University, where he earned his Bachelor's degree. An early go getter, Ryan started his own dog-walking service at the age of 8. He likes to spend his free time at the beach, playing sports and having out with friends and his siblings. |

Julianne started at Barnside May 2019. She is a Senior at University of Connecticut. Julianne will be starting Veterinary School at University of Pennsylvania in September 2022! Congratulations! |

Olivia started at Barnside in November 2021. She graduated from Monmouth University with a Bachelor's degree in Communications and Press Relations. She is currently taking online classes through Penn Foster toward her Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology. |
Receptionists

DAWN W.
Dawn joined Barnside in July of 2016. She has over 30 years experience in the customer service field. She enjoys going to the auto racetrack (her husband races a Sprint-Car). Dawn likes reading, spending time with family and friends. |

COLBY R.
Colby joined Barnside in December 2017. She graduated from Brookdale Community College with an Associate's degree in Business Management. Colby was fortunate to grow up on a small horse farm where she was surrounded by a menagerie from horses and donkeys to geese and goats. An accomplished equestrienne, Colby has been riding Hunter/Jumper since she was 8 years old. Aside from her horses, she enjoys spending time with her Jack Russell Terrier, Rosie. |

Nicole joined Barnside in January 2021. She graduated from Ramapo College with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She also has a Master's degree in Education from Widener College. Nicole is an accomplished artist. She enjoys spending time with family, friends and her cat Sollux. |

Toni started at Barnside in February 2018. She has many years working in human medical offices, but was happiest during her time at the Humane Society and doggy-daycare facilities. Toni enjoys spending time with family and her cat Wayne and mixed-breed dog, Reese. |

Kyle started at Barnside in November 2018. He has an Associate's degree from Ocean County College and a Bachelor's of Science from Devry. After volunteering with animal rescue organizations and working as a veterinary assistant, Kyle switched careers from technical media and networks, to veterinary medicine. Kyle enjoys spending time with his wife and his terrier Ziggy. |
