Veterinarians

MEREDITH L. WELTNER-SHARIN VMD
Dr. Sharin graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with an undergraduate degree in Biology in 1993 and then also graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. After graduation she completed a year-long surgical-medical internship in Delaware.

Dr. Sharin practiced in southern NJ for almost a decade before opening Barnside Veterinary Hospital in 2008. It has always been her desire to create and run a practice that delivered the highest caliber of patient care and owner education.

Dr. Sharin lives in Belmar with her husband Michael. Together they enjoy sailing, skiing and spending time with their children, Jenna and Michael, and their pets.

ROBERT G. CIMER DVM
Dr. Cimer graduated from Rutgers University- Cook College in 1984 with a Bachelor's of Science. He received his veterinary degree from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988.

Dr. Cimer worked for many years as an associate veterinarian in the Tom's River area before he founded and owned Calling All Creatures Veterinary Hospital. Active in the community, Dr. Cimer is on the Board of Directors of the Toms River Community Medical Center; and is a long-time member of the Toms River Elks Club, rising to the rank of Exhalted Ruler of his local Chapter #1875.

Author of "Almost a Real Doctor: One Veterinarian's Struggle to Survive in a Dog-Eat-Dog World"; Dr. Cimer lives in Toms River with his wife and enjoys spending time with his adult children.

Technician Assistants

ROBYN L.
Robyn started at Barnside in January 2018. She received her Associate's degree in Science from Ocean County College. Robyn earned a certificate from the Stratford Career Institution for Veterinary Assistant and is currently taking online classes through Penn Foster toward her Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology.

Robyn previously worked as a caregiver at The Open Door, a facility for persons with developmental and mental health challenges. When she's not working, studying, and taking care of her two young children, Robyn enjoys spending time with her poodles: Nala and Daisy.

NATALIE C.
Natalie started at Barnside May 2021. She is currently taking online classes through Penn Foster toward her Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology.

Natalie enjoys spending time with her husband and her pets: Sadie, Koda Foxy, & Penny.

NEIL R.
Neil started at Barnside in May 2023. He is a recent graduate from TCNJ with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. Neil will be attending Veterinary School at the University of Pennsylvania starting Fall of 2025!

Neil enjoys working with cats. His family has several cats, and he has a cat, Savannah, and a corn snake, Alfredo. Neil enjoys fresh-water fishing, ecology and local herpetology.

Receptionists

DAWN W.
Dawn joined Barnside in July of 2016. She has over 30 years experience in the retail customer service field.

Dawn is an excellent baker (supplying Barnside staff with many treats). Although she is an avid reader, she also enjoys the guilty pleasure of binge watching television. Dawn enjoys going to the auto racetrack (her husband races a Sprint-Car), and spending time with family and friends.

DAWN K.
Dawn joined Barnside in September 2023. In addition to working at Barnside, Dawn is a full-time Nursing Executive Director in the world of human medicine. She has a Doctoral degree in Healthcare Administration from Capella University.

Dawn enjoys traveling with her daughter to Walt Disney World as frequently as time allows. She shares her home with 3 dogs and 3 cats.

DAVID F.
David joined Barnside in July 2024. Always interested in theater, David attended Douglas Anderson (magnet high school for the performing arts) in Florida. After moving North, he received a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Kean University and enjoyed a theatrical career in NYC, as well as parts in film and television..

A recent transplant to the Jersey Shore, he and his husband enjoy spending time with their rescue pitbull, Luna and their six cats: Aster, Basil, Bruni, Floki, Hugo, and Spanky.

SAMANTHA E.
Samantha joined Barnside in February 2025. A NJ native, Samantha moved to California where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Aquatic Biology from UC Santa Barbara in 2021.

Since graduation, Samantha has worked in both biotech industry and in veterinary hospitals as a technician and receptionist. Having recently returned to NJ, Samantha enjoys traveling and spending time with friends.

Pet-Care Assistants

SAMANTHA M.
Samantha joined Barnside in August 2021. A recent high school graduate from Point Pleasant High School, she is currently enrolled at Ocean County College.

Overnight Assistants

TONI P.
Toni started at Barnside in February 2018. She has many years working in human medical offices, but was happiest during her time at the Humane Society and doggy-daycare facilities.

Toni enjoys spending time with family and her cat Wayne and mixed-breed dog, Reese.

Student Employees

BRIANNA D.
Brianna joined Barnside in May 2023, as a Junior in High School. Chloe is currently a Freshman at Rutgers University. She is in the Animal Science program with aspirations for a career in veterinary medicine.

CHLOE W.
Chloe joined Barnside in March 2024. Chloe is currently a Junior at Allied Academy of Health and Sciences magnet high school. Armed with ambitions for veterinary school, Chloe has already completed VetCAMP, a summer program at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.

JULIANNE S.
Julianne started at Barnside May 2019 when she was an undergrad at the University of Connecticut where she graduated with a Bachelor's in Animal Science. She currently in her 3rd year at the Veterinary School of the University of Pennsylvania!

KAYLA F.
Kayla started at Barnside May 2021 just after graduating from West Virginia Weselyean College with a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry. Kayla is concurrently enrolled a Masters degree program for Public Health at University of Maryland and is in her 3rd year at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine!
